New User Docs Release Schedule

GNOME user docs modules generally follow the official GNOME release schedule as described in Schedule. Starting with GNOME 3.26, the docs team will run a new pilot release program for user docs modules that includes a string freeze period. This is to address community requests for allowing more time to complete translations of content updates between releases.

New Stable Release Schedule

  • x.yy.0 stable tarballs due: string freeze starts, branch for stable gnome-x-yy
  • x.yy.0 stable tarballs due + 2 weeks: string freeze ends, release translation updates from gnome-x-yy as x.yy.0.1
  • x.yy.1 stable tarballs due: string freeze starts
  • x.yy.1 stable tarballs due + 2 weeks: string freeze ends, release translation updates from gnome-x-yy as x.yy.1.1
  • x.yy.2 stable tarballs due: string freeze starts
  • x.yy.2 stable tarballs due + 2 weeks: string freeze ends, release translation updates from gnome-x-yy as x.yy.2.1

Remark

If there are no source content updates checked in between releases, then there will be no translation releases either.
