Meeting Log

Attendees

  • Joanie, Li, Mike, Trev, Jiro

Topics Discussed

AT-SPI/Atk API changes

Discussion

  • The changes sought:
    • Piñeiro opened a 638537 as a metabug and has been reviewing the existing bugs and filing new ones.

    • Joanie and Mike each have some on their to-file list.
    • Joanie thinks that if we all give this our attention now, we can have a really productive Atk hackfest in the Spring.
  • The hackfest:
    • Piñeiro and Joanie still need to come up with the alternative dates, check with Igalia, and email critical attendees.
    • Joanie asked Li and Mike what dates worked best for them. No one has any problems with late April/early May.
    • Joanie proposed the first week of May as the week of 17 April includes some Spanish holidays and the week of 25th April is the 3.0.1 release.
  • Making AT-SPI2 a component or product within GNOME's bugzilla:
    • Mike filed 638794

    • Li stated that he could create a new category under AT-SPI and proceeded to do this.
    • There was also discussion related to which method would be preferred (see the log).
    • Note/Update: Shortly after the meeting, Andre closed the bug Mike filed due to the fact that AT-SPI2 already uses freedesktop's bugzilla.

Conclusions

  • Everyone should continue thinking about and filing bugs for the issues related to Atk they would like changed, remembering to block the metabug (638537)

  • Joanie and Piñeiro need to come up with dates for the Atk hackfest. Piñeiro needs to check those dates with Igalia for availability. And one of them needs to email the critical attendees.

GNOME 3.0

Discussion

  • PyGObject:
    • Joanie has some concerns about the PyGObject changes, noting:
    • Joanie added that the Spanish government would be funding a project to make Orca a better GNOME 3.0 citizen, but wasn't sure if the team should proceed on migration to PyGObject.
    • Mike asked when the PyGObject hackfest would be.
    • Joanie found the hackfest page which states it will be 17-21 January.

  • GtkTreeview refactoring:

    • Li asked if there was any announcement about the changes which were made so that he could understand the refactor more quickly.
    • No one was able to locate this announcement.
    • Mike stated that what was needed at this point was people to test the changes.
    • Joanie commented as an aside that hopefully Brian Nitz's work in this area might be helpful, if it were internally available (i.e. to Li).

Conclusions

  • Table discussion (and work on) PyGObject migration until after their hackfest.
  • Li will look for an announcement, pinging Piñeiro if need be, and will look at the changes made to GtkTreeview.

Upcoming events

Discussion

  • (The Atk Hackfest was discussed as part of the Atk/AT-SPI changes.)
  • Steve was not present to discuss Project:Possibility.

  • CSUN:
    • Li asked if Eitan would be going.
    • Joanie responded that Eitan and Bryen were definitely going and that Ale might be going. She might be going as well, but just to present on a panel and then return home.
    • Mike is likely going to go as part of his work duties.

Conclusions

  • (None)

Summary of Action Items

  • Everyone should continue thinking about and filing bugs for the issues related to Atk they would like changed, remembering to block the metabug (638537)

  • Joanie and Piñeiro need to come up with dates for the Atk hackfest. Piñeiro needs to check those dates with Igalia for availability. And one of them needs to email the critical attendees.
