Contact
We use email and IRC as our primary means of communication.
You can email us on the gnome-doc-list@gnome.org mailing list. If you are not subscribed, your email will be held in moderation to help prevent spam. The moderation queue is handled by the team coordinators and by GNOME's moderator team, so emails are generally approved within a day or two. To avoid moderation, please subscribe. See also the archives.
For the development of documentation-related tools, we use the gnome-doc-devel-list@gnome.org mailing list. This list is for programmers and contains technical discussions. You can subscribe or read the archives.
IRC
We chat and hold meetings on IRC, a real-time chat system. With IRC, you connect to one or more networks; each network has a list of channels you can join. GNOME uses the GimpNet network. The documentation team uses the #docs channel. If your system recognizes IRC links, you should be able to use the following link: irc://irc.gnome.org/#docs
You can use IRC with a dedicated IRC application like xchat-gnome, or using an instant messaging application like Empathy or Pidgin. If your application has a list of IRC networks, look for a network called GimpNet. Otherwise, use irc.gnome.org as the server.
Note that most of us idle on IRC all day, but this doesn't mean that we are constantly watching IRC. If you have a question, please ask and wait. Somebody will answer you eventually. Check our community page for information on upcoming Q&A sessions, which are times when we guarantee to be available to answer your questions on IRC.
