GSoC Update

  • Magdalen presented an update of her work.
  • She provided a feed if we want to follow her work: http://feeds.feedburner.com/thisMagdalen/GNOME.

  • She summarized her status as "right now I think I need to go through the js file with clown and identify the next plan of attack."
  • Joseph has read some of the GSOC emails from Magdalen and others.
  • Joseph has responded to Magdalen answering questions about magFocusCaretTracker.py, and supplying her with a clean copy of the focusCaretTracker.js
  • Magdalen updated code as well: https://github.com/thisMagdalen/GSoC/tree/master/javascript

  • She also spent some time working through how to include the JavaScript with a jhbuild of gnome-shell.

  • Next step is to find time to meet with Magdalen and go over focusCaretTracker.js, and explain what it tried to do.

W3C Update

GUADEC BoF

  • Piñeiro's opinion: last year a11y !BoF made sense because we had several people from the a11y team at GUADEC, and at the same time, we got other teams involved, so we could plan an agenda. Having or not having a !BoF this year will depend on how many people from the team are there, and if we find another cross-activity. If there aren't too many people from the team, or that activity, it isn't worth it to organize the !BoF.
  • Team presence:
    • Joanie will be at GUADEC.
    • Mike is not here so we should ask him.
    • Piñeiro will be at GUADEC.
    • Joseph will NOT be at GUADEC.
    • Juanjo will quite probably be at GUADEC.
    • Joanie guesses that Kalev (Fedora package maintainer for a11y) will be at GUADEC via GSoC.
    • Magdalen is expected to be at GUADEC via GSoC.
  • ACTION: Joanie will add our team to the list of planned BoFs.

Marketing

  • ACTION: Juanjo will ask Karen about the status of the contract to make the FoG award public.

Miscellaneous Time

Action Items

  • Joanie:
    • Add our team to the list of planned BoFs.

  • Juanjo:
    • Ask Karen about the status of the contract to make the FoG award public.

Ongoing / Rolled-Over

  • Joanie:
    • Email Mark Sadecki about our team meetings and invite him to join us to provide W3C updates.
    • Do a full evaluation of the accessibility breakage in Evolution 3.6 and file bugs accordingly.
  • Juanjo:
    • Take a look at the current a11y material in order to make an action plan.
  • Piñeiro:
    • Ping mousetweaks maintainers in relation with their plans towards Wayland.
    • Send a email to accessibility-dev, just in case the Wayland Accessibility section needs to be filled.
    • Compose a "what accessibility needs from Wayland, how to use it" email, ask for review, send to the Wayland Developer's list.
    • Ping GNOME designers, so hopefully some default keybinding will be available for 3.8.
    • Create some usability-configurability related bugs, using Bryen's mail as a starting point.
    • Update the AtkObject:children-changed documentation, as this could be also used on ATK implementors.
