Quick File Previewing

Status: Complete

Description

Provide a facility for quickly viewing different kinds of files. This would be used by Nautilus in the first instance, but could be extended to the file chooser and perhaps elsewhere too.

This feature would be provided by Sushi (see http://git.gnome.org/browse/sushi).

Current Status

See: http://blogs.gnome.org/cosimoc/2011/04/29/sushi/ Sushi has had an initial release, and nautilus will use it at runtime when it is present. This should all work in the 3.1.3 release.

How to Help

Discussion

  • Use "full application"'s mime-types (the mime-types handled should be the one exported by Totem for audio/video, by Evince for documents, by gdk-pixbuf for images, etc.) (BastienNocera)

  • Sharing look and feel with the "full applications" (Totem's controls for example) (BastienNocera)
