Brainstorm for integrating some kind of tracking in the TranslationProject

In the last GUADEC (Birmingham 2007) VincentUntz, DaniloSegan, GilForcada and Sílvia Miranda discuss about having some kind of tracking system to keep track of who is translating what and that sort of things the next step was starting the discussion on the i18n mailinglist and now we have this page in l.g.o to keep the brainstorming with some order

so feel free to add whatever you think it can be expected to have in this improvement to the l10n.gnome.org

Random Ideas

  • users! (obviously)
  • ability to upload translations
  • have some kind of user-group (translators, reviewers, coordinator) with the last one having an SVN account
  • checking for malformated files
  • ability to check and warn (sending e-mail to both translators and coordinators) inactive users who have translation tasks assigned to them. Translators who don't translate whether they have tasks on them should be detected and may be new translators can be assigned to these translations if necessesary to prevent time loss.
  • some kind of integration with bugzilla, so we can add bugs to translations (as per individual or for the whole language)

Accounts

  • integrating with LDAP?
  • semi-automatic accounts
    • having accounts that they haven't any access to SVN but they can login in l10n.gnome.org so they can upload translations or reviewing them, with the semi-automatic I mean that people will fill a from and the sysadmins will only have to accept or decline the account, just straight
