Gnome Games Network Multiplayer
Gnome Games supports networked multiplayer games. The network support is provided by GGZ Gaming Zone. On this page you will find information about setting up network games, the GGZ network infrastructure and help playing the games. Gnome Games 2.18.0 is the first version featuring full support for GGZ. For more information about GGZ, you can also see the GGZ Overview.
Overview of Network support
Gnibbles supports four player network multiplayer.
Iagno supports two player network multiplayer.
Four-in-a-row supports two player network multiplayer.
glChess supports two player chess games in 2.21.4.
Tali, Gnometris and Mines support is planned sometime in the near future.
Connecting to a server
To connect to a server, simply select the Network Game item on the game menu of a supported game. On this page, you choose which server to connect to, and which nickname you will play with. The connection dialog will be shown as follows:
Joining a game room
Once you have successfully connected to a server, you can choose which game room to join. To play a multiplayer game of Four-in-a-Row, select the Four-in-a-Row room. If you want to host your own game, then click on the Launch button. If there are other games already started, then you can double-click on an existing game.
GGZ Servers for Gnome Games
To play networked multiplayer games in Gnome Games, you will have to connect to a GGZ server. The games will have a list of available servers for you to connect to. The GGZ projects kindly provides the main server for games. This is the current list of servers:
