Some recent blogs are encouraging people to try out Epiphany instead of Firefox or Galeon. Some things in Epiphany are pretty cool, not least the tight integration with the GNOME desktop. However, there are still quite a few things that are very irritating. It's not a long list, though. And it is a very pretty browser.
Tabs don't shrink when there are too many to fit across. Instead a little arrow comes up. Apparently "this is a limitation of the GTK toolkit" and a list of tabs is available in the Tabs menu. This is a very irritating "won't fix" bug (#116519) From 2004. Is there a bug against GTK+? GnomeTerminal does it right.
Importing should be easier and better:
"Customize toolbars" doesn't belong under View, but in the "Tools" menu. Bug #335569
SOLVEABLE with plugins
- New tabs should be added after the current one.
The Tab Groups extension makes new tabs appear right from the current one. (see bug #110540, bug #326953 and bug #330676. )
WONTFIX
Things that people think is an issue bug, while they are not
- New tabs (and windows) don't have focus in address bar.
New tabs and windows do get focus when you have set the homepage to blank, otherwise the loaded page is focused. This is by design. --ReinoutVanSchouwen
The per-tab close "x" is ugly and harder to use than the single "x" that stays in the corner. Not-A-Bug #125526
Tools menu is only visible with epiphany-extensions. --ReinoutVanSchouwen
- ugly? Perhaps the default theme needs to be changed. It is pretty big, and I think it gets cut off sometimes. not as easy? Tabs are a power user functionality. Power users use keyboard shortcuts. Its ctrl-w, btw. (I'm not used to it yet, either.)
