Clearlooks as a contester for the NewDefaultTheme. This page is meant to document and discuss possible problems and requests. We'd be happy about any kind of constructive feedback!
About
Clearlooks was created by Richard Stellingwerff based on the Red Hat Bluecurve style. The idea was to update Bluecurve with a more modern appearance, while keeping usability and consistency in mind.
Status
Richard Stellingerff is working on a port of Clearlooks to use Cairo
- We released 0.4 with some further tweaks and a moving progressbar (disabled by default, use --enable-animation to enjoy it). According to Owen Taylor, this is not a clean solution and should rather be done as a patch to Gtk.

You can get it from gnome-look.org.
Problems
Clearlooks uses a few tricks to make widgets like the combobox or scrollbars appear more unified and less like a patchwork. Unfortunately this often fails when applications use Gtk+ in a non-standard way, resulting in an inconsistent look. The following cases are known to cause trouble:
Epiphany: No rounded scrollbar edges because of Gecko, see moz#300207
Firefox: Comboboxes (especially the location bar) are not connected. Scrollbars have no rounded edges.
We are very interested to work with application and Gtk developers to solve those issues, please inform us if you become aware of anything else.
